in Soria.

Soria combines Spain's lowest population density with a sophisticated rural economy: Chorizo de Soria IGP, Torrezno de Soria IGP, Black Truffle from Soria (Europe's largest producer), bottled mineral water and a mycology belt that sustains gastronomic tourism. Depopulation is the context, not the verdict.

I work with agri-food producers with origin labels, Soria-side Ribera del Duero wineries (Atauta, San Esteban de Gormaz), Tierra Soriana rural tourism projects and IT companies leveraging 5G and competitive costs to retain remote talent. And with local institutions on Soria !YA and the ETI (Smart Workspace).

Real business fabric

Sectors I know well in Soria.

Soria is not a single-sector province: it combines agri-food with recognised origin labels, a growing wind infrastructure, premium rural tourism and a digital ecosystem leveraging connectivity to retain talent. These are the five fronts where I have worked most.

Agri-food with origin labels: Chorizo de Soria IGP, Torrezno and Black Truffle

Soria concentrates three European-recognised IGP / DOP labels: Chorizo de Soria IGP, Torrezno de Soria IGP and Black Truffle (Tuber melanosporum), with the province as the continent's largest producer, especially in Berlanga and the Tierras Altas area. The challenge is not producing: it's telling the origin story without falling into folklore.

I work here on two fronts: positioning small and mid-sized producers against the premium HORECA channel (Michelin-starred restaurants, gourmet distribution) with a territorial narrative that holds price, and supporting the regulatory council or cooperative on institutional communication for international fairs (Anuga, Sial) where they compete against better-funded Italian and French IGPs.

Tierra Soriana rural tourism and heritage (Numancia, Medinaceli, Pinares)

The province has low-density, high-quality tourism: Numancia ruins, the historic centre of Medinaceli, the pine forests of Soria and Burgos (linked to mycology tourism), San Esteban de Gormaz and Tierras Altas. It doesn't compete with Segovia or Ávila on volume, but it does on authenticity. The average visitor spends more and stays more nights.

I work with rural houses, regional offices and specialised travel agencies on two levels: place-brand narrative (what Tierra Soriana says against 'generic rural') and digitalisation of the direct booking channel to avoid dependence on Booking and Airbnb. This especially applies to third-generation family businesses with product but with 1990s communication.

Wind energy and forest biomass

Soria is one of Spain's leading wind producers per square kilometre (dozens of parks in Tierras Altas, Cabrejas and Almazán), and forest biomass leverages pine forests for thermal co-generation. Deployment requires social licence: municipal acceptance, landscape impact management, communication to plot owners.

My role here is not technical: it's pre-deployment communication and local population relations. I work with wind developers on municipal communication plans, dialogue tables with farmers and village councils, and narratives connecting energy transition with effective repopulation (per-kilowatt aid returning to the village).

Remote IT, depopulation and the Soria !YA bet

The Soria !YA movement has put the demographic challenge on the national agenda. The province has bet on turning depopulation into a sales argument: 5G coverage in regional capitals, tax breaks, the Smart Workspace (ETI) and an ecosystem of rural coworkings (Garray, El Burgo de Osma) attracting remote professionals from Madrid and the Basque Country.

My work with this niche is twofold: positioning Soria as an attractive destination for tech professionals who no longer need to live in Madrid (campaigns capturing digital nomads without falling into the bohemian cliché) and supporting local startups leveraging that fabric to attract talent without competing on salary with the capital.

Soria · agri-food + demographic challenge

Spain's least populated province, and for that reason the most awake.

Häufige Fragen

Was man mich am häufigsten über die Arbeit in Soria fragt.

Do you work with Soria-side DOP Ribera del Duero wineries?+

Yes. The Soria area of DOP Ribera del Duero (Atauta, San Esteban de Gormaz, Aldealcorvo) has specific challenges: extreme high-altitude vineyards, short harvests and premium positioning against the rest of the DOP. I work on origin storytelling, packaging and the direct channel.

How do you sell Soria to tech companies that could be anywhere?+

The argument is not 'we're cheap': it's 'we're sustainable long-term'. Reasonable cost of living, 5G coverage in regional centres, small but connected community, real environmental quality. I design recruitment narratives that filter the professional who truly fits with Soria, not the one passing through.

Do you handle demographic challenge projects (Soria !YA, ETI)?+

Yes. I work with local institutions and territory agents on institutional communication, positioning the ETI and recruiting remote professionals. The Soria narrative as a 'country-challenge' province is now a brand asset, not a lament.

Do you work with mycology and truffle producers?+

Yes, especially on narrative and channel: positioning Soria truffle against Italian and French ones, building a mycology tourism package that monetises weekends, working with premium HORECA and gourmet distribution.

Do you also cover Almazán and the southern area?+

Yes. Although most of the work concentrates in Soria city, Burgo de Osma and Berlanga, I take on projects from Almazán, Arcos de Jalón and the southern area. A combination of initial in-person visit and remote follow-up.
